N&RR #4

This is an antique hand car that was acquired used from a railroader in Ohio.I was told that it originally ran in the 1940's and 50's at Kennywood Amusement Park in Pittsburgh PA. The person I bought if from has owned it and used it for over 20 years. It is built from steel, and has a 4-4-0 wheel arrangement. It will be renewed, repainted, and lettered. Another story I was told that this is a Doepke Rail Bird, built in the late 40's/early 50's and sold from either the Sear's or Montgomery Ward catalog. There seems to be more information online that supports that version of the car's heritage.

Rolling Stock On The Inactive Roster

Ingersoll Rand #91

This is the replacement for the Boxcab locomotive. SInce it was started after the first car, it takes advantage of new things I have learned. It is built with a full steel frame, while the first car was built as a wood with steel support frame. It is a replica of the ALGEIR Boxcab originally built in the late 1920's. The boxcab was the first successful diesel-electric locomotive in the world, and found application on many of the railroads in the New York City area as a way to try to minimize the pollution from steam locomotive, particularly in the tunnels. This one will be electric motor powered, and carry batteries onboard to operate the motors.  Each truck is fitted with two 12VDC electric motors.

Rolling Stock No Longer On Our Roster

N&RR 01

This is our first locomotive . It was acquired used from a railroad in Michigan.  It was originally built by Cannonball and is a "Little Gasser" industrial switching locomotive. It resembles a Plymouth MTD industrial locomotive. It is a simple and fun piece of equipment. We picked it up in March, 2003. It was our only source of motive power until the SW7 reached our shop in later July 2004. It is numbered Newell & Rocky River #01.

This locomotive was sold to the Strawberry Gulch Railroad in Florida in Febuary, 2005.

LS&OC #201

This is a car we purchased from another railroad, the Lake Shannon and Ore Creek in Michigan. It is still named as bought, LS&OC #201. It came as part of the deal when we acquired the Little Gasser locomotive.  It is a wood car built a number of years ago, most likely by Cannonball.

We sold this car with the Gasser to the Strawberry Gulch Railroad in Florida in Febuary, 2005.

C&O #67845.

It is a flat bottomed hopper car, acquired in August 2004 in an asset exchange with another railroad, Joe's Garage. It is a full steel car, that rides quite nicely.  It was originally built by Cannonball.

We sold this car back to Joe's Garage Railroad in May, 2005.

Reading #78910.

It is a twin car to C&O #67845, and acquired in the same asset exchange.  It also was sold to Joe's Garage Railroad in May, 2005.

N&RR #00

This is the first car we built.  It started out as a Boxcab diesel locomotive, but due to some scaling errors, was out of the correct size range. The car was available for odd jobs for maintenance of way work as needed.

This car was started since we had a surplus of steel. Due to a typo, we ordered some incorrect steel, and could not return it. So, with material in hand, and my son-in-law (the best welder we have) visiting for the holiday, we started building. It is complete, and a fine running car. It was the first car that was completed in our shop. When in use, this car normally trainsports 2 PT Cruisers.
