Rolling Stock Manufacturing
I have been building cars for as long as I have been in the live steam/live diesel 7-1/2" gauge hobby. The first car I had was a scratch built flat car. The second was a kit built flat car. From that point on, I started to build a number of different cars using both steel and wood construction. The chassis work was always done from steel. The bodies were built from either wood or steel. Over a period of time, I migrated to full steel bodies.
From time to time, people I have met in the hobby have asked me to either help them build, or to build for them, cars for their use. I have advanced that to the point that I am now at, where I have a series of cars that are being offered for sale to interested buyers in the hobby.
My goal is to build simple, strong, reliable cars that are cost effective. They are built from structural and formed steel, have a prototypical look, and can be detailed to any extent by the owner. I build primarily 4 foot long cars. I find these to be somewhat lighter in weight, easy to carry, a better fit into trucks and trailers, and lower in cost due to the effective use of raw materials. I often have cars in stock since I find I can affect the cost by building in quantities.
The cars are sold ready to finish, with an option for me to do either some or all of the finish work. They are sold less trucks and couplers. I build them to suit either Tom Bee or Mountain Car/Cannonball style trucks .
Thanks for checking my cars out. I am ready to answer any questions that you have.

Construction
The cars are built in two pieces, the chassis or under carriage, and the body. The two pieces are bolted together on assembly, after prime paint. The chassis is welded from 11 gauge (1/8" thick) structural steel, ASTM A36. Welding is gas shielded MIG. The body is formed from cold rolled 16 gauge (.0625" thick) steel, and MIG, TIG, or spot welded. Ribs are supplied standard on the sides and ends of Gondolas and Combo Cars..
The frame or chassis can be supplied for use with any of the current/popular types of trucks, Tom Bee style and Mountain Car style.
